Description
The commune of La Rochebeaucourt-Et-Argentine abounds in extraordinary biodiversity, with large wetlands along the Nizonne and limestone plateaux whose network of quarries is home to numerous species of bat.
With a veritable mosaic of vegetation (rocky slab plants, dry grasslands, juniper moors, heaths, pubescent oak forests), the Plateau d’Argentine NATURA 2000 site is considered to be the richest group of calcicolous grasslands in the Dordogne.
The site is home to around 353 plant species, fifteen of which are protected.
Nearly 200 animal species, 24 of which are of Community interest, complete this inventory (great murine, woodlark, ocellated lizard, etc.).

Starting from the village square, take the road towards the village and then towards Bonneuil. At the bus stop sign, follow the path along a fence to the left, join a wider path then at the first crossroads turn right, continue straight on to the next crossroads. take the opposite direction and a little further up, turn right, stay right then turn left and join the road;turn left and 50 m further on, follow the path to the right; continue straight on and just before the first house in Beauchaud, turn right onto a path and follow it always straight on.
