Millstone path

saint-crepin-de-richemont

Description

A long time ago, the Coline was home to some astonishing creatures. Small and ungainly, they were endowed with spectacular strength and skill, knowing how to carve the rock into blocks or dig it into caves in which they took refuge in the extreme cold. The plateaux and woods around you conceal an unusual history. Without it, there would have been no bread in our lives. It’s a story that stretches back thousands of years: the extraction of millstones to grind grain. This original industry has left behind a labyrinth of quarries littered with stone monsters, some Roman, some from the past. Set off to discover these millstones and rediscover the forgotten memory of the quarry people. Your journey back in time, to the origins of bread, tells the story of the men, the Riches Monts, and the mountains of round millstones.
