Church of Saint-Christophe

champagnac-de-belair

Description

The church dedicated to Saint Christopher was originally Romanesque, but was rebuilt in the 16th century by Gaston de La Marthonie like the one in Villars. It’s hardly surprising, then, that they both have similarities, notably the buttresses in the form of flying buttresses with passageways. A pretty stone rose window adorns the west facade, and the entrance through the south door has all the elegance of the Renaissance. Inside, the church has preserved its beautiful 17th-century altarpiece.
