Through the chestnut forests and hills of northern Périgord, the Villars loop will take you to the Villars cave and its bluish cave paintings, the village of Villars and its fortified church, and the château de Puyguilhem, a Renaissance gem.

1 Du départ à La Peyzie

From the signpost, head towards the town hall and cross the entire square. Pass in front of the Virgin and Child and go down to the right following the tarmac road to the cemetery. Turn left onto the main road, pass the town sign and follow signs for “Miallet” and “Grotte de Villars”. After 200 metres, turn left towards “Le Pays des Bois”. On the left, on a small tarmac road, you will see a small fountain or covered well. Turn right onto a small dirt track (GR). On your left is a truffle farm. At the end of the dirt track, turn left onto the tarmac road.
Follow the road up to the left, walk straight ahead and then turn right. Pass the houses and continue straight ahead on the chalk track. At the crossroads, go straight on towards La Peyzie. At the fork in the road, turn left and then right. At the houses go straight on a dirt track.

2 De la Peyzie à l'arrivée

When you reach the tarmac, turn left and then quickly right again.
At the fork in the road, take the track on the right and follow it. Pass the access road to Puyguilhem castle before returning to the starting point in the village.
